Flashpoint: four bouldering gyms taken to #1 across Bristol, Cardiff, Swansea & Swindon
Flashpoint runs dedicated bouldering gyms in four cities. We built the sites and took each one to #1 on Google and the top of the Map Pack for bouldering in its city — in Bristol, Swansea, Swindon and Cardiff — including the map box for “boulders cardiff”, a 2,600-searches-a-month term.

The challenge
Bouldering is a fast-growing sport, and Flashpoint opened gyms to meet that demand across the South West and South Wales. But each new site launched the same way: a fresh website with no Google footprint, in a city where climbers were already searching for “bouldering near me” and finding someone else. Four cities meant four times the work — and four local search markets to win, each with its own competitors.
What we did
1. Built four sites on a proven playbook
We built each Flashpoint website around how people search for bouldering — sessions, beginners, kids, technique, community, parties — and set up and tuned a Google Business Profile for every location. The same winning structure, localised to Bristol, Swansea, Swindon and Cardiff.
2. Won each city from a standing start
For the three newer sites we started from no ranking at all and rapidly took the core “bouldering [city]” terms to page one and into the top positions — organic and Maps. In Cardiff, where we took on the rebrand of the former Roc-Bloc gym, the brief was different: hold and strengthen existing visibility. We did, and pushed it to the top — including the Google Maps box for the high-volume “boulders cardiff” search.
3. Defended and widened across all four
We hold these positions month after month and keep widening each site’s keyword net — technique, beginners, teenagers, kids, community, “what is bouldering” — so each gym owns the whole conversation around bouldering in its city, not just its name. We maintain all four sites too.
The results
Across the group, Flashpoint now sits at the top of Google and the Map Pack for bouldering in every city it operates in.

Across the four cities. “Google” = organic position; “Map Pack” = Google Maps local pack position.
That visibility shows up in the numbers. In a single month the four sites pulled over 11,600 website sessions and 2,700+ click-throughs from Google Business Profiles. Momentum is still building, too: Swansea’s monthly sessions grew 38% with new visitors up 52%, Swindon’s Google impressions rose 31%, and Cardiff’s clicks climbed 21%.
Four gyms. Four cities. #1 for bouldering in every one of them.
What this means for your venue
One great location is hard enough to market; a growing group is harder still. Flashpoint shows that the same local-SEO playbook can be repeated city by city — winning each new market from scratch and defending it — so every site you open starts showing up for the searches that fill it.
