Flashpoint Cardiff: top of the Map Pack for “boulders cardiff”
When we took on the rebrand of Cardiff’s former Roc-Bloc gym as Flashpoint Cardiff, the job was to protect its visibility and push it to the top. Today it owns the Google Maps box for “boulders cardiff” — a 2,600-searches-a-month term — and ranks #1 on Google across Cardiff bouldering.

The challenge
Rebrands are risky for search: change the name and you can lose the visibility you’ve built. The brief here was to carry Cardiff’s established gym through the switch to Flashpoint without losing ground — and ideally to come out stronger.
What we did
1. Protected the foundation
We rebuilt the site as Flashpoint Cardiff while preserving the search equity, structured around how people search for bouldering in the city, with the Google Business Profile updated to match.
2. Pushed to the top
We strengthened the core “bouldering cardiff” terms to the top of Google and held the Google Maps box for the high-volume “boulders cardiff” search.
3. Defended and widened
We hold these positions and keep widening the keyword net, and we maintain the site.
The results
The rebrand strengthened rather than weakened Cardiff’s visibility. It now sits at the top of Google and the Map Pack for bouldering in the city.
